Position Summary
JM Huber is seeking a Quality Technican at Active Minerals International, a Kaolin Clay production facility in Aiken SC.
The Quality Technician performs routine laboratory testing to ensure customer shipments meet specifications and that adequate in‑process testing is conducted to monitor and maintain process control. The role includes crude and finished product testing in accordance with established procedures, participation in quality problem‑solving activities, and support of quality system requirements. The technician may also assist with special projects and other quality‑related duties as assigned.

Entry Rate: $20.50
Shift: 6:00pm-6:00am Wk1 M,T,S,Su Wk2 W,Th,F (once trained, day shift while in training)
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct pre‑operational equipment checks at the beginning of each shift as required.
- Perform routine laboratory tests using approved methods and standard operating procedures.
- Accurately record and document test results manually and/or electronically.
- Prepare, label, track, and manage samples, composites, and retained materials.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of laboratory work areas.
- Ensure laboratory instruments are properly calibrated and maintained; report calibration or maintenance needs as necessary.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and actively participate in the QMS program.
- Communicate test results, sample status, and quality concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Follow non‑conforming product procedures and escalate issues as required.
- Support the preparation and issuance of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for customer shipments.
- Authorize product shipments in accordance with established specifications and quality requirements.
- Assist in troubleshooting quality issues, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective actions.
- Work backlog samples as time allows to ensure timely availability of test results.
- Adhere to all QMS documentation, procedures, and ISO requirements applicable to the role and department.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Quality operations.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous laboratory experience preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly and perform work accurately with minimal supervision.
- Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Basic computer skills (data entry, spreadsheets, laboratory systems).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to lead by example.

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a production and laboratory environment. The position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 55 pounds on a regular basis. The role involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing (up to 70 feet) as needed. Manual dexterity is required for operating laboratory equipment, hand controls, and computer keyboards. Vision and hearing abilities are required to perform essential job functions safely and effectively.
