Position Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the laboratory operations to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient analytical testing, method development, and instrument maintenance. The job exists to ensure that the laboratory operates according to industry standards (ISO 17025), maintains necessary accreditation (ACCREDIA), and meets the regulatory requirements of the fertilizer sector and other relevant industries.

Key responsibilities include developing, validating, and standardizing analytical methods, maintaining laboratory accreditation, coordinating laboratory staff, and ensuring compliance with both internal and external quality standards. Additionally, this role serves as a key point of contact between the laboratory and various departments, ensuring smooth operations across R&D, operations, regulatory, sales, and quality management.

The role is essential for ensuring that the laboratory produces accurate and reliable analytical results, supports innovation in research and development, and facilitates the laboratory’s contribution to commercial relations with stakeholders while adhering to regulatory frameworks.

The role involves the hands-on execution of analytical tests.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support to other departments involved
  • Ensure laboratory performance to be align with ISO 17025 requirements
  • Ensure laboratory accreditation under ACCREDIA
  • Development and validation of analytical methods also in new regulatory frameworks
  • Execute analytical tests
  • Manage laboratory data base for analytical data collection and standardization
  • Release certificates of analysis
  • Coordinate laboratory technician in performing analytical tests

Analytical methods

  • Develop and validate analytical methods
  • Ensure the compliance of analytical methos used with the officials one for the fertilizer sector
  • Trains laboratory staff

Instruments maintenance and calibration

  • Perform maintenance and calibration of instruments 
  • Coordinate laboratory technician in maintenance and calibration of instruments

Laboratory quality system

  • Maintain laboratory operations aligned with ISO 17025 standards
  • Prepare and participate at ACCREDIA audits

Laboratory commercial relations

  • Maintain commercial relations with HAS companies
  • Provides administration office with the information necessary for issuing invoices on analyses carried out for HAS company other than ILSA

Key Competencies

  • Good knowledge and experience (5 years minimum) in analytical chemistry HPLC, ICP, GC, Kjeldal analyzer
  • Experience in ISO 17025 and ACRREDIA
  • Experience in working in a structured organization
  • Good team working skills
  • Master degree in chemistry or pharmaceutical chemistry
  • Qualification to practice the profession of chemist
  • English
  • Good organizational and relationship skills
