The Corporate Strategy & Business Development Team (CS&BD)

The CS&BD team works closely with the Huber CEO & board of directors, as well as portfolio company leadership, to formulate strategic growth priorities, develop business cases, and drive execution of key initiatives. The group is also responsible for all aspects of inorganic growth, including target origination, valuation, due diligence, and negotiation. Over the last several years, the team has led the execution of nearly $3 billion in M&A transactions. Building on this track record, the team is now actively engaged in strategy development and expects to deploy >$1B in additional M&A capital in the near future.

 

A role on the CS&BD team is demanding and fast-paced, with high visibility throughout the company and direct access to senior leaders. As such, strong performance can result not only in career progression within the team, but also in broader opportunities across the organization. This role reports to the Director, Corporate Strategy & M&A.

Position Summary

This role will assist with the development and implementation of corporate & business unit strategy. Typical project work will include, but will not be limited to, formulating strategic priorities, building robust financial models, identifying performance improvement opportunities & data-driven insights, business case compilation, and valuation work. This role will also contribute to M&A strategy, including pipeline development, valuation, due diligence, and negotiation. The position will be based in Atlanta, GA and will involve extensive interaction with corporate and business unit senior management, as well as exposure to the company’s corporate and portfolio company boards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning & portfolio analysis: support the development of Huber’s long-range strategic plan of record. Collaborate with portfolio businesses to develop scenarios and synthesize detailed analytics into actionable key takeaways for executive management.
  • Decision-making support: build and maintain analytical tools & frameworks to enhance decision-making. Contribute to critical projects related to organic capital deployment, asset allocation, technology assessments, expansion into new markets, etc.
  • Competitive & market analysis: collect information and perform analyses that improve Huber’s understanding of potential market opportunities and/or competitive threats. This could include market sizing, performance benchmarking, and other forms of primary & secondary research.
  • Business development: provide strategic and analytical input into both inorganic and organic growth opportunities. This could include all aspects of M&A, incubation investments, partnerships, new product/new market opportunities, etc.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Structured & Logical Thinking: The ability to identify and define business problems and issues, and to develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analysis. A strong problem-solving capability is critical to this role.
  • Analytical Rigor: Proven capability conducting and managing quantitative analyses, including financial models. Ability to process complex information, manage detail, and synthesize key insights into executive-level takeaways. Advanced Excel proficiency is required, with an emphasis on building structured, logical frameworks for complex problems.
  • Powerful communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and on paper, and with all levels of an organization. Able to make presentations and communicate in an open and honest way that quickly builds trust and respect.
  • Leadership skills: The ability to gain credibility with team members and senior management, and manage multi-stakeholder project timelines. Possess an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Professional skills: Creative, out-of-the-box thinking. Intellectual curiosity with a demonstrated interest in learning. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or Business-related field. MBA is a plus
  • 2-5 years of total business experience, and at least 1 year in corporate strategy, strategy consulting, investment banking, or relevant finance, valuation, transaction advisory, or general management function.  Experience with industries similar to Huber is a plus.
  • Strong initiative and natural curiosity, with a desire for professional growth
  • A demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of diverse teams
  • Ability to travel
