Position Summary
The Director of ERP Applications is responsible for the reliable delivery, support, and ongoing improvement of JM Huber’s ERP and connected IT Applications ecosystem supporting a $3 billion global manufacturing organization. This role provides leadership and accountability for the day-to-day operation of ERP platforms that enable core business functions across finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial operations.
This leadership role ensures ERP systems are operated using industry standard practices with clear ownership, runbooks, monitoring/alerting and measurable SLAs. This person will ensure integrations are stable, secure, and aligned to business needs, while driving disciplined execution, effective vendor management, and continuous improvement within a streamlined IT operating model.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
ERP Delivery and Ownership
- Build, mentor, and lead ERP application leadership and technical teams, fostering strong talent, disciplined execution, and sustainable operational excellence.
- Lead the ERP application landscape, upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and production support.
- Ensure ERP capabilities enable end-to-end processes, including financial close, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and order-to-cash.
- Provide operational leadership and support for legacy ERP platforms, including Oracle EBS, Infor, Great Plains, AS400, Mosaic, and Prothes.
- Ensure the current operating model for ERP services includes the necessary roles for support. This includes L1-L3 support, on-call/escalation, runbooks, knowledge management, environment management, and hyper care for deployments.
- Build and implement the operating model to support the delivery of the future Oracle Fusion platform across JM Huber.
- Oversee integrations and data flows between the ERP and connected applications, ensuring data integrity and reliable performance.
- Establish and enforce design, configuration, and technical standards to maintain system stability and scalability.
Application Operations
- Manage third-party application support services to ensure consistent service quality and value.
- Ensure availability, performance, security, and compliance of ERP systems in coordination with Infrastructure, Security, and Architecture teams.
- Provide operational leadership and support for ERP Platform Partner systems, including Oracle eInvoicing, Basware, EPM, OneStream, Concur, Apro, RFSmart, OTM, Prometheus and others.
- Establish and manage service metrics, SLAs, and operational KPIs for ERP services.
- Lead incident, problem, and change management activities related to ERP applications. Ensure root causes of recurring issues are identified and resolved.
Roadmap and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain a prioritized ERP roadmap focused on operational stability, risk mitigation, and business-driven enhancements.
- Lead ERP upgrades, enhancements, and integration improvements in response to business needs and technical requirements.
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate and prioritize ERP-related initiatives.
- Support ERP changes related to organizational transitions, divestitures, or integrations.
Vendor and Financial Oversight
- Lead, coach, and develop ERP application managers, analysts, developers, and support resources.
- Manage relationships with system integrators, managed service providers, and software vendors.
- Oversee application budgets, licensing, and contracts to ensure financial discipline and compliance.
Business Partnership and Accountability
- Act as the primary IT point of accountability for ERP application services.
- Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Commercial leaders to ensure application services meet operational needs.
- Translate business requirements into practical, well-governed application solutions.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience leading or supporting ERP application environments within manufacturing or operations-focused organizations.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of ERP platforms such as Oracle EBS, Oracle Fusion, or Infor.
- Experience managing application support teams and third-party service providers.
- Solid understanding of financial, supply chain, and manufacturing business processes.
- Experience delivering ERP upgrades, enhancements, and system improvements.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or MBA.
- Experience supporting ERP solutions in process manufacturing or regulated industries, including alignment with quality management systems (QMS), regulatory compliance requirements, and end-to-end operational processes.
- Familiarity with ERP-integrated applications such as eInvoicing, warehouse management, analytics, and reporting tools.
