Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Director of Human Capital Management (HCM) Systems to lead the strategic direction and operational excellence of our global HCM technology environment. This position plays a pivotal role in transforming and unifying HR systems across a diversified manufacturing portfolio, enabling efficiency, compliance, and a world-class employee experience. As a key member of the HR leadership team, you will be responsible for driving enterprise-wide initiatives across HCM platforms, ensuring optimization and continuous improvement of the platform, and leveraging data to inform strategic workforce decisions across global operations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Design and execute a multi-year, scalable, future-focused HCM systems strategy aligned with the needs of a dynamic, global manufacturing enterprise.Collaborate with Portfolio Businesses to understand their business strategies and define technical requirements and solutions to achieve business goals.
Identify innovative solutions to drive value for the businesses.
Develop and communicate a strategic HCMS vision that aligns with HR and business objectives.
Stay current on and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in HCM to stay competitive.

 

HCM System Process Transformation, Implementation and Maintenance:

Partner with HR and operational leaders to streamline, digitize, and standardize HR processes.
Champion automation, employee and manager self-service, and mobile-friendly solutions to improve the employee and manager experience.
Responsible for life cycle planning of HR applications through the phases of strategize, select, deploy, operate, evolve and retire.
Lead the optimization and continuous improvement of enterprise HCM systems (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors, Visier, etc.), including HR and analytics.
Oversee the harmonization of HR technology systems across regional entities and legacy systems while maintaining flexibility for local compliance.
Oversee system configuration, customization, and data migration projects and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of HCM systems. Provide interface support for payroll systems.
Oversee new business integrations & divestitures, manage interfaces with seamless integration between various HR systems and streamlined processes and data flows.

 

Data Management, Reporting and Analytics:

Ensure accuracy and consistency of HR data; lead initiatives in workforce analytics, KPIs, and executive dashboards to enable data-driven decisions.
Facilitate a Master Data Management program to ensure quality of data within the HCMS environment.
Develop and maintain data analytics and reporting that enable evidence-based decision-making and drive HR initiatives.

 

Team Management:

Build and lead a high-performing team of HRIS and HCM professionals focused on excellence, innovation, and service delivery.
Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

 

Vendor Management:

In close partnership with IT, oversee HCM software providers, implementation partners, system integrators, outsourced business process (BPO), and application management (AMS) services.
In collaboration with team, manage relationships with HR technology providers.
Parter closely with IT Strategic Sourcing on vendor contracts and negotiations.
Define business requirements for new agreements and monitor service quality.
Manage escalated issues with vendors to resolution and leverage the Service Level Agreements including financial penalties as necessary.

 

Compliance and Security:

Implement and maintain global data governance policies, ensuring data accuracy, security, internal controls, and compliance with privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and SOC. Stay current on privacy regulations.
Implement and maintain robust security protocols, data privacy and compliance measures to safeguard and protect sensitive HR data and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
Stay abreast of legal and regulatory requirements related to HCMS, data management, and payroll systems. Partner with internal regulatory and security teams to ensure HMCS data is appropriately protected.

 

Budget:

Develop, recommend, and maintain the operating budget (OP&B).  Plan and budget HR technology projects using capital and SaaS accounting guidelines and standards.
Monitor and Maintain budget throughout the year and provide monthly forecasts.

Education, Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.


Preferred:

Master's degree.
Certification in HRIS and/or payroll (e.g., CPP, FPC).
Project management certification (e.g., PMP).

 

  • The role requires a blend of strategic leadership, technical expertise, and human resources knowledge.
  • Proven experience (typically 12+ years) in HCM systems management and HR technology.
  • Proven leadership experience including managing cross-functional teams and overseeing large-scale HR technology projects.
  • Sound judgement and imagination, decision making ability, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels through excellent verbal and written communication skills and executive presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to inspire, influence, engage and challenge.
  • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills to successfully influence diverse stakeholders, leaders and employees across the organization.
  • Ability to effectively build and manage external relationships with vendors and manage contracts and vendor services.
  • Expert knowledge of HRIS/HRMS platforms and related software applications, data management, and analytics.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and HR compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and FASB, especially as it relates to Software as a Service.
