Position Summary
The HR Partner provides thought partnership and support to stakeholders in matters including but not limited to employee and labor relations, performance management, talent management, coaching, training and development, compensation and benefits administration, and HR compliance. The HR Partner is instrumental in executing the Company’s people initiatives and programs, providing great internal customer support, as well as driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. This role serves as an important member of the Site leadership team(s) and is actively engaged as a member of the HEM HR team.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Development and interpretation of policies, procedures and programs related to employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee & labor relations.
- Effectively investigate employee relations issues.
- Partners with employees and managers to effectively manage conflict to a successful resolution.
- Investigate grievances or employee concerns and recommend remedies. Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws.
- Advise employees in interpersonal issues, training, and career development.
- Review disciplinary issues with management to identify and recommend best progressive discipline options, up to and including termination.
- Lead local recruitment efforts including facilitating the job requisition process, sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates, making hiring recommendations and developing job offers. Partner with Talent Acquisition team as appropriate. Provide relocation and immigration support as needed.
- Focuses on long-term staffing needs and succession planning, partnering with leadership to build a talent pipeline for key positions.
- Assesses current workforce skill levels and organizational goals that will require upgrading employee skills to support the Company’s future goals, identifying opportunities for cross training.
- Coordinate effective onboarding for new hires.
- Foster desired culture through employee programs and effective communication.
- Conduct internal HR audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
- Perform job evaluations slotting positions in accordance with organization’s salary structure.
- Conduct compensation comparisons for internal and market equity to make salary recommendations for new hires, reorganizations, equity adjustments, and promotions. Consult with compensation partners as appropriate.
- Administration of compensation programs.
- Support employee benefit issues.
- Advise employees of retirement program and prepare information/communications regarding benefit costs, benefit eligibility, etc.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience
- Experience in a union environment required for CBA sites
- Ability to travel domestically as needed
- Must have thorough and in-depth knowledge of HR laws, benefit administration, compensation systems and various personnel functions.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
- Must be able to perform their responsibilities effectively and efficiently in a work environment with minimal supervision and continuous interruption.
- Must regularly exercise independent judgment and decision making.
- Experience with leave management, compensation, and benefits.
- Working exposure to multi-site, multi-state, or global operations a plus.
- Solid knowledge of HR computer software programs and systems (Success Factors and UltiPro preferred) as well as Microsoft Office is required.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must demonstrate a proper sense of urgency, decisiveness, integrity, and ability to make appropriate decisions.
- Must have the ability to interact and work effectively with all level of the organization, including executive management.
