Position Summary

Responsible for the preparation of various payrolls and the administrative duties involved in the compilation and computing of payroll data. This position reports to the J.M. Huber Corporate Payroll Manager and indirectly to the Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) HR Shared Services specialist.  The Payroll Analyst maintains continual working relationships with Corporate Payroll, Human Resources, the Accounting Department, and the third-party vendor for accurate payroll processing.  Receive, verify, correct, and maintain necessary payroll data for each location.  Perform full cycle of payroll functions and other duties as assigned. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee biweekly payroll processing for union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll data errors and audit timekeeping reports to rectify discrepancies.
  • Manage biweekly payroll adjustments, reconcile timekeeping and payroll data differences.
  • Act as a resource for current pay policies and procedures.
  • Prepare biweekly payroll reconciliation reports and review HR requests.
  • Audit salaried non-exempt payroll data and report exception hours and changes to Corporate.
  • Compile data, conduct financial analyses, and generate reports for financial management within HEM.
  • Coordinate and support payroll system implementation for new business acquisitions.
  • Maintain expertise in payroll systems (UKG Pro and UTM) and backup files for audits.
  • Maintain payroll records, detailed procedure checklists, and generate standard payroll reports.
  • Ensure accurate Union Dues reporting and payments to USW.
  • Manage Enterprise report data for company vehicle drivers and provide tax-related information to Corporate within HEM.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Undergraduate or technical school training in Accounting/Finance and/or Business Management is preferred. 
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required (including union payrolls). 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and interact appropriately with internal/external contacts. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective planning, follow-up, multitasking, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to take ownership of payroll processes and participate in meetings involving payroll issues. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Windows-based computer programs. 
  • Ability to travel, as needed, for training and integration of payroll functions.
