Position Summary

The Sr. Manager, M&A will have broad responsibility within J.M. Huber for understanding Huber’s Corporate Strategy, and leading formulation and execution of the companies Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Strategy. The position resides within Huber’s Corporate Strategy and Business Development Group and will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development. The position also involves extensive interaction and work with Corporate and Business Unit senior management and regular exposure to the company’s Board of Directors.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Assisting the Chairman and CEO of Huber in refining and communicating the Corporation’s Vision and long-term direction, including working with business units (as requested) to ensure sector operating and M&A plans are consistent with Huber’s overall corporate strategy
  • Identifying, screening, and evaluating potential acquisition candidates, joint venture partners, licensing arrangements, and other M&A opportunities for Huber to help confirm strategic fit and to prioritize/implement overall Corporate Development efforts
  • Leading valuation development and related financial analytics
  • Assisting / leading other elements of the M&A process within the company as appropriate and interacting with critical internal personnel and outside advisors. Assisting with negotiations and supporting legal aspects of a transaction
  • Assisting/leading post-merger integration planning and execution as needed
  • Developing and applying best practices at Huber in strategic due diligence, synergy evaluation, and post-merger integration-- especially in determining the overall integration approach and in detailing the best deal-by-deal transition process and procedures

 

Strategy

  • Supporting the overall strategic planning process at Huber to ensure that best practices for strategy formulation/execution are applied throughout the company and that a strong linkage to strategy exists for Huber’s budgeting, resource allocation, and incentive systems
  • Leading or participating in special projects related to corporate portfolio development, new business venture start-up, capital appropriation projects, emerging technology/market assessments, international expansion, and/or business performance benchmarking

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Detail orientation with ability to support decisions through research and sound business judgment
  • Ability to articulate complex process to large groups to gain understanding and build consensus. Experience in developing and managing long-term strategic plans in a corporate setting
  • Translate strategic visions into actionable plans
  • Excellent analytical skills. High degree of comfort with Excel and PowerPoint is essential
  • Ability to frame complex problems and independently drive to actionable solutions
  • Strong communication skills leveraged through writing documents, making presentations, and debating strategic alternatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships
  • Must work well independently and on teams with high energy, comfort with ambiguity and desire for personal growth
  • Experience managing teams with diverse functional backgrounds. Coaching and managerial skills key for growth in this role
  • Ability to travel

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Undergraduate technical or business degree
  • Preference for an MBA or Master’s degree with emphasis in Business Strategy and Finance
  • Minimum of 8 years of business experience in acquisition related consulting, investment banking or relevant finance function
  • Experience in M&A and deal negotiations
  • Ability to develop complex financial modes that tie to the strategic initiatives or inorganic growth opportunity
  • Ability to develop full financial statements and valuations that allow for scenario planning

 

Preferred: 

  • Experience with industries similar to Huber

  • Team Orientation and Collaborative Approach – An individual who treats others with respect and interacts using a collaborative approach. Capable of working effectively in a wide variety of settings relative to peers, boards, direct reports, company employees, shareholders, advisors, and rating agencies. Possesses strong leadership skills and ability to motivate others to superior performance
