Purpose of Job:


The Global Market Manager is responsible for developing and executing market strategies and plans for the Ceramics & Purification markets that will deliver long term profitability and growth and is accountable for the commercial P&L of the assigned markets.  


A key focus will be on understanding (unmet) customer needs with the Commercial and Technical team, market segmentation and new business development in close cooperation with Sales, Customer Technical Support team and other stakeholders/functions. The Global Market Manager will play a key role in the project management of NPD (New Product Development) projects as well as initiating new NPD ideas for future sustainable and profitable growth in Technical Ceramics and Purification applications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of global/regional market strategies (includes 5-year Market POR) to ensure the future success of the business.
  • Work closely with Sales to develop effective pricing strategies ensuring that the appropriate price premium is applied to capture the full market value of the product. 
  • Drive the “outside-in” view of the business by gathering voice of customer data, working with Marketing, Purchasing, Sales to develop market and competitive intelligence.
  • Key focus on New Business Development (NBD) in defined growth areas together with Sales & Customer Technical Support and ensure the right level of resources and focus to develop new business.
  • Develop value propositions and marketing and sales tools with Marketing/Customer Technical Support to ensure that the value our products bring to our customers is real, communicated clearly and concisely, and commands a price premium.
  • Be a key driving force for differentiation and growth as project manager in the new product development process. Drives a clear understanding of customer (unmet) needs and how we can respond to win in the market. 
  • Capacity planning and Capital expenditures: deliver/provide required inputs to Global Product Line Manager to support projects.
  • Tracking of competitor landscape and capabilities, capacities, and activities (e.g., new developments, new applications, new product launches) and communicate these within the organization with stakeholders.

Requirements & Qualifications:


  • 10 years of prior experience in a commercial position in e.g., Market Management, Sales, Business Management, Marketing, or commercial project management (e.g., New Business Development)
  • Experience in development and execution of market strategies, customer segmentation and tactical sales/marketing plans
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to lead New Business Development (NBD) and New Product Development (NPD) projects as part of the NPD stage gate process
  • Chemical or Engineering degree strongly preferred
  • Several years of global business experience and working within a matrix organization desired
  • Comfortable with multiple communications platforms, excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, proficiency in English
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, experience in creating and downloading reports in ERP systems
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
