Head of Engineering (m/f/d) Europe

Purpose of Job:

As Head of Engineering Europe for Huber Advanced Materials (HAM), you will lead Engineering, CAPEX and Process Technology across our European sites in Germany and Austria. You will develop the engineering strategy, lead key investment projects and drive improvements in productivity, capacity, quality and cost — always with a strong focus on safety, environmental responsibility and compliance.

This is a senior leadership role with a strong hands-on technical focus. You will lead and coach the engineering team while staying close to the plants, projects and technology, working with colleagues across the organisation to find practical and effective solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Engineering organisation across Europe, setting priorities, coaching and developing the team and creating a strong culture of ownership and collaboration.
• Develop and manage the European CAPEX strategy, including investment plans, budgets and project priorities in line with business needs.
• Lead and oversee capital projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring safe, timely and cost-effective delivery while staying close to the technical details.
• Drive process technology and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, capacity, yield, quality and cost.
• Support plant operations with hands-on engineering expertise, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, optimising production and evaluating new technologies and production methods.
• Work closely with site and functional leadership across Operations, Maintenance, R&D, Quality, EHS&S and other functions to align engineering priorities with business needs.
• Ensure engineering activities meet applicable safety, environmental, regulatory and company standards, working closely with our EHS&S organisation and external partners.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
• 7–10+ years of engineering and project management experience, including leadership of engineering or CAPEX teams.
• Strong experience in CAPEX, process engineering and industrial operations; experience in mineral processing or the chemical industry is an advantage.
• A strong technical foundation and hands-on mindset, with the ability to work across a broad range of engineering topics.
• An experienced people leader and coach who enjoys developing a capable team and leading through collaboration and personal ownership.
• Willingness to travel regularly as required by the role.
• Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
