Position Summary
Provide general support in various craft skills required to construct, repair, and maintain plant equipment, utilities, buildings, and related structures. Able to perform at a high level of proficiency in completing skilled tasks. Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain shop tools (drill press and grinder). Occasionally operate electrode welder, oxygen and acetylene cutting, and welding apparatus. Operate and maintain portable power and standard tools. Able to operate a forklift and other mobile equipment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Help maintain and repair mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) to the plant mechanical equipment as specified.
- Maintain daily work logs.
- Perform routine PM to plant mechanical equipment as specified.
- Manufacture parts or equipment to the extent of qualifications as directed by the Maintenance Team Leader.
- Test repaired or newly installed equipment. Replace guards, floor grates, etc. Remove all tools, parts, rags, etc. upon completion of assignment.
- Follow checkout procedure when removing items from the storeroom.
- Consistently practices safe working habits and actively work to promote safety to others.
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment as qualified throughout the plant. Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment.
- Assure completion of work assignments when working along or with assistance from other mechanics. Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
Knowledge/Skills
High School Diploma or GED, 5 years’ experience, Good Mechanical aptitude. Technical educational training through an accredited vocational school is required. Ability to work with others as a team. Industrial maintenance testing required and basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. Should have at least five years of experience in the maintenance field
Physical Requirements
Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, grease, oils, dust and dirty working conditions. Work involves standing, climbing, walking on elevated catwalks and inactive conveyors, and occasionally lifting heavy objects (50 lbs. or more). Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
