Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Multi-Craft Technician to join our team at the Natrium Sodium Bicarbonate manufacturing facility in Cortland, NY.
This role combines electrical and mechanical expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment, utilities, and systems. You will work in a dynamic chemical plant environment and be part of a team that values safety, precision, and collaboration.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position requiring some on-call availability for after-hour breakdowns and occasional weekend plant downtime.
Overtime is paid after 40 hours worked in a week.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, instruments, and controls.
- Perform advanced electrical tasks:
- Install motors, starters, wiring, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot power/control circuits and variable frequency drives.
- Calibrate instruments and maintain documentation.
- Execute mechanical tasks:
- Welding, fabrication, and pipefitting.
- Repair pneumatic and mechanical systems.
- Rigging and alignment of components.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and contribute to a culture of safety and teamwork.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of plant operations, control systems, and safety protocols.
- Ability to operate a forklift and read technical documentation.
- Basic computer skills (email, file management, word processing).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in varied environments (hot, cold, dusty).
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors with exposure to chemicals and loud noise.
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and emergency call-outs.

Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as an applicant's skills, performance, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.

In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
