Position Summary
Leads regional CAPEX management and process technology strategy across North America HAM sites, establishing metrics, systems, and programs to drive productivity and deliver capital projects on time, within scope and budget, and to standard. Champions best practices in process technology and production methods, guiding implementation across sites to optimize yield, increase capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate product quality—all while generating measurable cost savings and supporting innovation.
Defines and executes strategic programs aligned with Global Business and site-level plans. Applies process expertise to support plant operations, troubleshoot challenges, and evaluate emerging technologies. Fosters strong EHS&S performance and upholds the highest ethical standards, consistently aligning with Huber’s principles.
- Develop and lead the regional engineering organization.
- Direct management and coaching of CAPEX project engineers.
- Dotted line management of process engineers located at sites.
- Coordinating strategy, project priorities, cross training, etc. with plant leaders.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure effective development and training occurs with the regional project and process engineers.
- Work as a capital project leader and oversee the execution of capital projects.
- Identify, develop, and lead productivity improvement projects.
- Responsible developing CAPEX annual budgets and multiyear plans
- Drive productivity and process improvement projects focused on yield, capacity, cost, and quality.
- Develop technical specifications, scopes of work, feasibility reports, and capital appropriation requests (CAR).
- Responsible for fundamental knowledge of regulations and laws affecting assigned work areas and working to ensure that all regulations and laws are followed.
- Create cost models, determine process capability, and plant capacity to aid Sales and Marketing in development of business cases.
- Plan, lead/coordinate, and identify Capex projects; Prepare post-project reviews.
- Oversee project controls to ensure on-time, on-budget, and in-scope delivery.
- Lead the planning, execution, and post-review of capital and expense projects.
- Align the project execution processes across all sites.
- Work alongside cross-functional project teams during feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning phases of capital projects to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure development of technical specification for equipment, and other project related key documents according to project process description or standards in defined quality.
- Coordinate with operations and other internal departments (Sales, R&D, Quality, EHS&S) to define implementation strategy of Capex projects along with business needs / production schedule.
- Lead negotiation with Purchasing / Sourcing to maximize value to Huber with vendors / contractors / suppliers.
- Assist operations with troubleshooting and equipment optimization using Six Sigma and statistical tools.
- Conduct FME analysis, process development, and facility qualification via DoE methodology.
- Oversee execution of PHA’s facilitated by EH&S and maintain PSM systems to ensure safe designs.
- Process development activities to include creation / modification of process flow diagrams (PFD’s), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID’s), equipment specifications, control logic, etc.
- Work with the Global Innovation team in support of customer technical service and new product development.
- Support implementation of HSMS (Huber Sustainability Management System) with potential to lead specific efforts as a subject matter expert.
- Responsible for bringing all EHS&S incidents or concerns to management for resolution.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- A 4-year engineering degree at an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing CAPEX teams
- Experience in the Mineral Processing or Chemical Process Industries is a plus.
- Experience as Capital, Process, or Product Engineer
- Strong communication and computer skills are necessary. Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
- Self-motivated, ability to make independent goal-oriented decisions in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Solid knowledge of Processes and Project management experience is required
- Experience in unit operations such as particle size reduction, classification, bulk material handling, pneumatic conveying, powder drying, and processing is a plus.
- Six Sigma training and familiarity with statistical analysis software (Minitab) are a plus.
- Position may require up to 50% travel.

In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
