Position Summary

Operates manual packaging equipment to package finished product, stores in warehouse, and scans into inventory. Maintains clean work areas.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

· Obtains Daily Bagging Sheet from Mill Operator.

· Gathers Packaging supplies needed for the shift.

· Assures scales are accurate and Packer is set up properly.

· Pre-stamps appropriate number of bags for filling and fills and stacks bags in accordance with Daily Bagging Sheet. Average number of pallets per day varies between 14 and 18 pallets. This averages to approximately 27 tons per shift of manual packaging.

· Prepares pallets for warehousing (blows the pallet off, labels the box tray, presses the pallet, weighs the pallet, and stretch wraps the pallet).

Locates and Stores the pallet in the appropriate warehouse location and scans the pallet into inventory.

· Checks weight of several bags during operations and adjusts bagger mechanism if necessary to meet specifications.

· Maintains work area in a clean and safe condition.

· Become familiar with the Environmental Management System, policy and procedures. Also the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures.

· May perform other duties.

· Stacking pallets up to 3 high in the warehouse.

Employee must stoop, bend, kneel in performance of duties.

· Performing multiple setups on short notice due to customer demands while trying to achieve shift production and routinely stacking up to 55 lb bags throughout the shift in a repetitive motion. 

· Working with chemically treated materials.

· Managing multiple priorities at one time in a safe and efficient manner.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Ability to operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Must be able to mount and dismount forklift safely, multiple times per shift.

  Follows all safety procedures and adheres to PPE requirements.

  Ability to read and comprehend daily instructions as well as SOPs and safety procedures. 

· Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements

· Twisting/ Turning

o Twists/ turns body in a repeat motion while stacking the 50 – 55 lb bags throughout the 8 hour shift

· Standing

o Required to stand about 7 hrs of an 8 hr shift

· Walking

o Minimal walking requirements - to and from bagger to pallet, to forklift.

· Lifting

o Lifts an average of 50lb bags but up to 55lb bags

· Climbing

o Climbs on and off of a forklift an estimated 40 times per 8 hour shift

o Climbs up and down ladders and estimated twice per 8 hour shift
