Position Summary
Operates manual packaging equipment to package finished products, store materials in the warehouse, and accurately scan items into inventory. Always maintains a clean and organized work area.
The operator is responsible for complying with all Mandatory Minimum Standards within their area of responsibility. This includes adherence to applicable environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) requirements, such as air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater permits, and any other regulatory or company standards communicated to the employee.
Additionally, the operator is responsible for promptly reporting all EH&S incidents, hazards, or concerns to management to ensure timely resolution.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Obtains the Daily Bagging Sheet from the Mill Operator.
- Gathers all packaging supplies required for the shift.
- Verifies scale accuracy and ensures the bagging equipment is properly set up.
- Pre-stamps the appropriate number of bags, then fills and stacks them in accordance with the Daily Bagging Sheet. Manually packages approximately 14–18 pallets, or up to 27 tons, per shift.
- Prepares pallets for warehousing by cleaning (blowing off) the pallet, labeling the box tray, pressing, weighing, and stretch wrapping.
- Transports pallets to the appropriate warehouse location and scans them into inventory.
- Periodically checks bag weights during operation and adjusts the bagging equipment as needed to meet specifications.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Develops and maintains familiarity with the Environmental Management System (EMS), including relevant policies, procedures, and the potential consequences of deviating from established operating requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Physically demanding work, including stacking pallets up to two high and frequently stooping, bending, and kneeling during the performance of duties.
- Managing frequent equipment setups on short notice to meet changing customer demands while maintaining production targets. This includes repetitive handling and stacking of bags weighing up to 55 pounds throughout the shift.
- Maintaining consistent product quality, including accurate bag weights, while meeting production expectations.
- Safely working with chemically treated materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Effectively prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
