Position Summary

Performs duties necessary to ship material by truck as well as receiving incoming materials. Responsibilities include filling shipping orders based on work orders for van and bulk trucks, and raw materials for filling orders.  Responsible for maintaining a clean storage warehouse and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.

Must be available to work overtime as needed.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Operator is responsible for maintaining compliance with the Mandatory Minimum Standards Required within their sphere of influence. This may include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements. Responsible for bringing all EH&S incidents or concerns to management for resolution.

  • Obtains paperwork for particular truck or rail car to be loaded.  Matches materials received with appropriate paperwork to ensure correct materials are shipped.
  • Ensure all materials are loaded efficiently and safely.  Check each pallet of material for broken bags and replaces, if necessary.
  • Operates conveying system to load material from silos into bulk trucks.
  • Drives fork truck to load pallets of bags into truck vans and / or containers.   
  • Maintains packaging supplies in production area, also placing received chemicals into the chemical building.
  • Maintains clean working area including finished products warehouse, loading dock, and truck pad.
  • May assist other departments while not performing shipping/receiving duties.
  • Abide by all Plant safety practices and regulations.
  • Become familiar with the Environmental Management System, policy and procedures. Also, the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures.  
  • Prepares and stages LTL’s for the next day.
  • Fills in when regular shift Shipper/Receiver has a scheduled day off (vacation, etc).
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend bills of lading.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to drive a fork truck in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to read and comprehend all safety manuals and SDS information. PPE requirements include hard hat, safety glasses, fall-protection and safety-toed shoes. Ear plugs are required as posted in the facility.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to routinely check business e-mail as well as complete online Safety Training as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Operating a fork truck in a safe manner – climbing off and on multiple times per shift.
  • Routinely Accessing elevated locations by ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Capability of lifting 55 lb. Bags.
  • Working with silane chemicals.
  • Managing multiple priorities at one time in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work is inside and occasionally outside. Works in a noisy, wet, dirty environment exposed to ambient conditions. PPE requirements include hard hat, safety glasses, fall-protection and safety-toed shoes. Ear plugs are required as posted in the facility. This position requires much standing, walking, climbing and occasional lifting of equipment or products.
