Position Summary

We are looking for a Technology Specialist, Thermoplastic Applications to join our Fire Retardant Additives R&D group, who will be responsible for new product development and customer technical support.  The ideal candidate will have experience in plastic engineering, be a dynamic team player, a highly motivated, driven, analytic-oriented self-starter with a strong background in polymer and/or inorganic chemistry and a passion for driving new sustainable products to commercialization. 


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead group responsible for thermoplastic technology, with a focus in Wire & Cable applications.
  • Lead new cross-functional product development projects, generate and champion ideas for new product concepts to strengthen Huber’s position as an innovative FR solution provider. 
  • Participate in scale-up process together with manufacturing. 
  • Build sustainable customer relationships, provide technical support, assist with customer investigations and product performance troubleshooting. 
  • Promote new technical offerings in the form of presentations, technical advice, to support product introduction and sales

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • M.Sc. degree in Chemistry, Polymer and/or Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5 to 10 years of industrial R&D experience required.  PhD degree is preferred. 
  • Experience in new product development and commercialization. 
  • Customer technical service experience
  • Project management experience 
  • Experience share scientific results via presentations and papers in conferences
  • Experience in supervising teams
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainability.  


  • Knowledge of Wire &Cable market, especially knowledge of PVC chemistry 
  • Knowledge of functional fillers for polymer compounds, understanding of fillers’ chemistry, manufacturing process and characterization  
  • Working knowledge of fire protection chemistry, fire retardant additives, and fire testing methodologies.  
  • Demonstrated expertise in polymer testing, additive technologies, and chemical techniques for additive analysis and mineral characterization. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 


Travel: 30%.  Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally as required.
Location: Fairmount, GA (30 miles north of Atlanta, GA)
