Position Summary
Maintain operational efficiency and longevity of process equipment through scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) tasks and inspections. Coordinate work and service for equipment in production and facility utilities as needed. Ensure work is properly planned and carried out in such a way as to maintain Production and Facility systems at optimum levels of production with minimum downtime. Performs highly skilled tasks to construct, repair, and maintain plant equipment, buildings, and related structures as well as various inspections or observations for environmental responsibilities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performs the duties of a maintenance mechanic while using the following tools: welding equipment, volt meters, mechanical equipment, amp probes, micrometers, and various other portable and handheld tools. This includes but is not limited to the following:
-Repair and replace gear boxes, pumps and motors.
-Major fabrication.
-Highly skilled welding, cutting, and brazing (TIG/MIG/SWAW).
-Repair and diagnosis of system electrical or controller equipment problems.
-Work on variable speed drive and other electrical equipment.
-Knowledge of blowers, diverters, baghouses, and other pneumatic conveying equipment.
-Ability to make new electrical drawings and maintain existing drawings as needed.
-Performs the duties of an instrumentation technician.
-Installs, maintains, troubleshoot and repairs plant Process Control System hardware and programming.
-Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of process instrumentation.
-Communicate and work with engineering and vendor technical reps as needed.
-Directs the work of contractors who assist with electrical, mechanical maintenance and installations.
-Performs calibrations on quality critical instruments and controllers.
-As duties permit, and as assigned, perform other less skilled electrical maintenance duties such as:
-Install and wire motors
-Run conduit, wire ways and electrical cable
-Install switches, lights and receptacles
-Install 110/220-volt distribution centers
-Perform preventive maintenance for granulation system equipment.
-Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks. This includes but is not limited to the following:
-Distributes secondary power (480 volts) and installs related equipment.
-Application of three-phase and single-phase AC/DC circuits.
-Electric motor maintenance and troubleshooting.
-Installs and maintains motor controls (starters, motor control centers, variable frequency drives and controlling devices).
-Major troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment to include diagnosing PLC discrete and analog inputs and outputs. Able to program a PLC a plus.
-Utilize and maintain the maintenance work order system to track and manage all maintenance requests and work orders efficiently.
-Possesses an overall knowledge of plant operations.
-Assists with process operations especially when granulation systems are running. Must be familiar with all unique equipment and their operation.
-The ability to maintain and solve problems with air compressors is a plus.
-Maintain a clean and safe work area.
-Become familiar with the Environmental Management System, policy and procedures, and the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
-High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical school certificate required.
-Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience and/or technical school equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
-Willing and able to work and act safely.
-Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
-Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization. Bilingual a plus.
-Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, maintenance orders, SDS and various production schedules/reports.
-Must have peripheral and color vision.
-Be available for 24-hour on call duty by cell phone.
-Must have valid driver’s license as part pick up may be required.
Physical Requirements
-Conditions vary from temperature-controlled office environment, ambient temperatures in the warehouse and production areas and outdoor environment.
-Noise exposure of moderate to high levels in the production area.
-Occasionally, sitting, squatting, climbing, or kneeling for assigned tasks.
-Frequent bending, twisting and lifting for assigned tasks.
-Constantly standing, walking on hard surfaces, grasping, pushing, pulling and reaching.
-Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and step ladders to work at elevated locations.
-Frequently lifting up to 20 pounds to waist level, and up to 50 pounds to waist level occasionally.
-Exposure to heat, cold, grease and oil is typical for this role.
-Forklift experience required.
