Position Summary

The electrician performs highly skilled tasks to install, repair and maintain all electrical equipment, lighting, service utilities and related structures. The opening is for our first shift, Monday through Friday 7am - 3pm with alternating on call schedule.  

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks. This includes but is not limited to the following: 
    • Distributes secondary power (480 volt) and installs related equipment. 
    • Install and maintain voice and data communications. 
    • Installs and maintains PLC control systems. 
    • Applications of 3 phase, 1 phase, AC/DC circuits. 
    • Electric motor and generator maintenance and troubleshooting. 
    • Installs and maintains motor controls (starters, motor control centers, and controlling 
    • devices). 
    • Major troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment. 
    • Troubleshoots electronic equipment and does “board change” repairs. 
    • Troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits. 
    • Performs calibrations on quality critical instruments and controllers. 
  • As duties permit, and as assigned, performs other less skilled electrical maintenance duties: 
    • Installs and wires motors. 
    • Runs conduit, wire ways and electrical cable. 
    • Installs switches, lights, and receptacles. 
    • Installs 110/220-volt distribution centers. 
    • Analyze and performs preventive maintenance. 
  • Informs Instrument/Electric Service Coordinator of problems encountered during repairs and construction, PLC structuring, PLC programming, troubleshooting, instrument calibration, communications, milling equipment operation, and electrical safety procedures. 
  • Provides leadership and On-the-Job (OTJ) training for MultiCrafts. 
  • Employees must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job. 
  • Knowledgeable of the ISO quality system as required to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001 quality standard. 
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.   

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.  Technical school a plus. 
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience or technical school equivalent or a combination of education and experience. 
  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical theory; electrical construction and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and PLC programming.  Must have the ability to read and interpret the National Electric Code. 
  • Position requires previous training through an accredited apprenticeship program or through formal training programs such as a vocational or technical school, or company-sponsored programs. Evidence of electrical safety and electrical practice experience is mandatory. 
  • Willing and able to work and act safely (laboratory and plant practices). 
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following:  multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed. 
  • Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization. 
  • Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDS, and various production schedules/reports. 
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs occasionally, must be able to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and crawl.  Must be able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely hot to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.
