Position Summary

Provides correct test result information on material being produced and shipped. Ensures proper documentation of shipments are complete and accurate. We have an opening for 2st shift (12:00pm - 8:00pm) Monday - Friday with occasional weekend overtime based on business demands.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carries out job in accordance with quality and efficiency guidelines.
  • Requires capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.
  • Apply known and established policies and procedures.
  • Solves basic/moderate problems and issues with guidance.
  • Works under limited or direct supervision.
  • Follow the ISO quality system as required to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001standard.
  • Prepares Certificate of Analysis, ensuring product complies with customer specifications.
  • Responsible for recording accurate data. 
  • May work with a 2nd Lab Tech or Mill Operator and will coordinate with that individual to maximize total shift output.
  • Conducts physical testing of industrial limestone and mill feed.
  • Schedules incoming trucks for bulk or pallet loads.
  • Completely finishes sample requests and have ready for shipment.
  • Logs data on both manual and computer record systems.
  • Responsible for the test data and shipment releases issued on designated shift.
  • Responsible for exercising sound judgment to involve the QC Manager on routine and non-routine issues, which may impact customer quality.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Education -- minimum high school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.  Prefer science background with additional documented technical or college courses.
  • Experience – 1-3 years quality technician experience preferred. 
  • Proficient knowledge of MS applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Applying acquired job skills, company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • A variety of routine duties to perform requiring specific job skills but dedicated to standard day to day activities.
  • Able to apply relevant technical/quality knowledge
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete multiple activities with limitations
  • Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Must have ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Requires the ability to read and understand scales, charts, drawings, formulas or specifications which are prepared by others and required taking information such as measurements, type of materials, etc. 
  • Reads notes, memorandums, forms, or reports to obtain information or instructions; calculate accurately using arithmetic including decimals and fractions; use some knowledge of the specialized field in with job responsibility lies.
  • Able to prepare and maintain a wide variety of routine reports.
  • Basic knowledge of SPC, ISO and Plant / Mine operations.
  • Training is OJT for lab tests and standard operating procedures.  Initial training will typically last 30 days dependent on technician’s experience level.  Complete training should not exceed three months.  Duration will be determined on an individual basis by the Quality Manager. Between two to six months if continued errors are being made, Quality Manager will make recommendation to terminate.
