Position Summary

MultiCraft performs highly skilled tasks to construct, repair, and maintain plant equipment, buildings, and related structures.  This position is scheduled Monday through Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm and on a rotating on-call schedule. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of a maintenance electrician and mechanic while using the following tools; welding equipment, volt meters, mechanical equipment, amp propes, mircrometers, and various other portable and handheld tools  This includes but not limited to the following:
    •  Repair and replace gear boxes.
    • Major fabrication.
    • Highly skilled welding, cutting and brazing (TIG/MIG/SWAW).
    • Repair and diagnosis of packaging equipment problems.
    • Variable speed drive and transmission repair.
    • Ability to perform mill functions.
    • Knowledge of blowers, diverters, baghouses, and other pneumatic conveying equipment.
    • Ability to make new electrical drawings and maintains existing drawings as needed.
  • Performs the duties of an instrumentation technician.
    • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs plant Process Control System hardware and programming.
    • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of process instrumentation.
    • Communicates and works with engineering and vendor technical reps as needed.
  • Directs the work of contractors who assist with electrical maintenance and installations.
  • Performs calibrations on quality critical instruments and controllers.
  • As duties permit, and as assigned, performs other less skilled electrical maintenance duties such as,
    • Installs and wires motors
    • Runs conduit, wire ways, and electrical cable
    • Installs switches, lights, and receptacles.
    • Installs 110/220 volt distribution centers
    • Analyze and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks.  This includes but not limited to the following:
    • Distributes secondary power (480 volts) and installs related equipment.
    • Applications of three phase, single phase, AC/DC circuits.
    • Electric motor maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Installs and maintains motor controls (starters, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and controlling devices).
    • Major troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment to include diagnosing PLC discrete and analog inputs and outputs.  Able to program a PLC a plus. 
  • Possesses an overall knowledge of plant operations.
  • Assists the process operations as necessary.  Must be familiar with all unique equipment and their operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial, electrical, and mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment or or a combination of education and experience.
  • Maintain and improve equipment through analysis of data, preventive maintenance procedures, predictive maintenance practices and reliability centered strategies. 
  • Possess the desire to advance and develop your own knowledge and skill set. 
  • Willing and able to work and act safely (laboratory and plant practices).
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
  • Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, MSDS, and various production schedules/reports.
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs occasionally, must be able to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and crawl.  Must be able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely hot to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.
  • Must have valid driver’s license as part pick up is required.
