Position Summary
Responsible for leading and managing the Plant Maintenance Department to ensure all predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities are effectively planned, prioritized, and executed to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The role is focused on maintaining the Marble Hill Plant at optimal production performance while minimizing equipment downtime and operational disruptions. This position directly supervises non-exempt hourly Maintenance Department personnel, including mechanics and electricians, and provides leadership in safety, reliability, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise maintenance mechanics, electricians, and lubrication technicians.
- Manage schedules, staffing, and work assignments to optimize efficiency.
- Develop team skills through training, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in compliance with EHS&S, HSMS/ISO, and regulatory standards.Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee work orders in Oracle EAM, prioritizing and adjusting as needed.
- Perform daily plant inspections and support troubleshooting and repairs in the field.
- Enforce safety standards, conduct daily safety meetings, and promote a strong safety culture.Monitor productivity, job progress, and quality through regular field observations.
- Maintain accurate records (timekeeping, work orders, inspections) and high housekeeping standards.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure proper PPE usage.
- Evaluate employee performance, support hiring decisions, and administer corrective actions.Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
- Provide off-shift/weekend support as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of industrial maintenance experience with exposure to both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance or industrial environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization.
- Intermediate-level computer proficiency, including experience with standard business and maintenance software applications.
- Maintenance experience within the Chemical Process Industries (CPI) is preferred.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as Oracle EAM or similar systems, is preferred.
Physical Requirements, Working Conditions, Environment
- Must be able to work approximately 25%–35% of the time in a conditioned office environment performing computer-based work, and 65%–75% of the time in a manufacturing plant environment. Plant activities include walking throughout the facility, climbing multiple stairs, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and climbing ladders while exposed to heat, cold, dirt/dust, elevated noise levels (hearing protection required in designated areas), and mobile equipment traffic such as forklifts, Kubota, and mobile lifts.
- Must be able to work outdoors approximately 20%–30% of the time while exposed to varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, rain, and other weather-related elements.
- Must be capable of entering permit-required confined spaces as necessary for job evaluations and troubleshooting activities. This may involve climbing ladders, bending, working in confined areas, and navigating uneven surfaces for less than 5% of the time.
- Must be able to access elevated work areas using ladders and stairs for job evaluations, troubleshooting, maintenance support, and safe work permit verification approximately 40%–50% of the time.
