Position Summary

Performs highly skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance duties required to repair, and maintain vehicles, compressors, generators, and other mobile equipment necessary to the mining, crushing and grinding of limestone.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Performs highly mechanical and electrical maintenance duties.  This includes but is not limited to the following:
a.    Engine repair and diagnostics.
b.    Transmission repair and diagnostics.
c.    Ignition repair and diagnostics.
d.    Complete hydraulic and pneumatic system repairs.
e.    Vehicle electrical system troubleshooting and repair.
f.    Brake overhauls.
g.    Engine tune-ups.
h.    Exhaust system repairs.
i.    Hose and belt and belt replacement.
j.    Operate all mobile equipment.
k.    Repair and perform preventive maintenance on air compressors.
l.    Light welding, brazing and acetylene cutting.

Physical Requirements

Works in all inside and outside areas of the underground mine and plant as needed.  Often climbs ladders to work on and inspect equipment.  Exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, dust, vibration, noise, grease, ground limestone, heights, and other dirty conditions.  

Occasionally works in confined spaces. 

•    Ability to work in an underground environment.
•    Must routinely lift and move 50 lbs unassisted, and heavier weights with assistance.
•    Must bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.
•    Must be able to wear required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, harnesses, steel toed-shoes, gloves, hearing protection, etc for 8 – 12 hours at a time.
