Position Summary

As the Electrical & Instrumentation Technician you will perform a wide variety of activities which support the facility and maintain production.  Shifts are either eight hours, 5 days a week, with occasional overtime work, or 12 hour rotating shifts with occasional overtime work.  You may be required to work in one or more plant areas, doing one or multiple assignments during any given work shift.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Work independently or in small groups to install, repair, replace, equipment.

  • Bend from waist or squat at hips and kneel to work on pumps, valves, motors, and other process equipment.  Use mechanical lifts and hoisting rigging to position equipment, but you may be required to lift 25 to 50 pounds without mechanical or personnel aid and carry it as far as 50 feet for installation or repair.  Climb fixed vertical, portable stepladders and extension ladders of heights from 5 feet to 40 feet to obtain access for maintenance and repair of systems and equipment. You must be able to work overhead and at shoulder height from ladders.  Must be able to hear alarms and mechanical sounds in order to assess various systems.  Must be able to discriminate color for electrical wiring tasks.
  • Work independently or in pairs to repair equipment at work station. Use a variety of hand held tools which must be grasped manually, applying as much as 100 pounds of torque to disassemble mechanical units.  Tools may be manual, electrical or pneumatic in nature, requiring adequate grip for safe operation.
  • Walk/Stand upon a variety of surfaces to transport materials, equipment and tools between work areas. You will be required to stand approximately 5-6 hours per day.  Standing/walking takes place upon concrete, asphalt, metal grated and diamond steel plated walkways and stairways.  You will be required to climb as high as 5 flights of stairs 3-4 times a day to reach work area.  Must be able to kneel, crouch, or crawl to reach restricted access work areas a minimum of 1-2 times daily.
  • Work in varying environmental conditions. You will be required to work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions; outside temperatures may range from -32oF to an excess of 100oF, while indoor temperatures can be 110oF or higher.

Minimum Qualifications

In order to perform this job successfully, the following is required:

  • Associated degree in the field of instrumentation, controls, or electrical systems.
  • Two years Industrial experience or five years’ experience as an E/I Tech in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with DCS and PLC systems, electrical motors, and controls. 
  • Experience reading blueprints and working with 480 VAC 3 PH equipment
  • Ability to use computerized maintenance software.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with GMP regulations

Preferred Experience

Preferred Qualifications and skills include:

  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and crane
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Experience driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
  • Must be able to read and write
  • Required to carry/set up ladders up to 6 feet high
