Position Summary
This is a great opportunity to join a family friendly company. As a Maintenance Mechanic you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and Lubrication of the mechanical equipment throughout the site. It is up to you to make sound decisions to insure minimal disruption to the production process. This department is scheduled to provide services to the entire facility 7 days a week, therefore this role involves being on call. You will work in one or more plant areas, doing one or multiple assignments during any given work-shift Including lubrication duties. Call-ins are a requirement of this position. This position requires a high level of self-management, punctuality, good attendance, and the ability to adjust to a variety of assignments. We need a real team player motivated by challenges to solve problems.
Responsibilities
- Repair, replacement and installation of equipment including pumps, screw conveyors, rotary valves, relief valves, motors, conveyors, and its auxiliaries like pipes, flanges, gaskets, mechanical seals, filters.
- Align, disassemble and rebuild production equipment such as reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, bearing members, gearboxes and pumps.
- Utilize micrometers and calipers to repair equipment; operation of drill press, hydraulic press, pedestal grinder, mill equipment and lathes. trouble-shoot equipment while making rounds identify equipment problems using vibration pen, Ultrasound Detector, Infrared thermometer, stroboscope and stethoscope.
- Work independently or in small groups to install, repair and replace equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, auto lubricators and other process equipment.
- Work independently or in pairs to repair equipment at workstation. This role uses a variety of handheld tools which must be grasped manually, applying as much as 100 pounds of torque to disassemble mechanical units. Tools may be manual, electrical or pneumatic in nature, requiring adequate grip for safe operation.
- Lubrication duties of several teams including the Shift Technicians, E&I, Mechanical and Reliability Teams. You will be part of the Mechanic Group and will support the reliability efforts of the Maintenance Department through their lubrication PM’s, MTCE orders, and oil sampling and testing efforts.
- May Work independently to complete assigned work tasks and to monitor and operate equipment. You must be a self-motivated individual and willing to assist with the lubrication program.
- Responsible for helping to maintain lube storage building upkeep as well as for maintaining the auto lubricators used throughout the plant. You will survey and trouble-shoot equipment while making lubrication rounds or mechanical inspections and be able to identify equipment problems using vibration pen, Ultrasound Detector, Infrared thermometer, stroboscope and stethoscope. They will need the knowledge to fix mechanical problems; examples are leaks and rotating equipment replacement.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent with minimum 2 years of experience as mechanic on industry and/or technical education on industrial maintenance or mechanic
- This position will require good mechanical knowledge and experience.
- Must be able to read and write and competent in basic mathematics
- Experience with maintaining high speed rotating equipment, such as turbines and compressors (preferred)
- Ability to align, troubleshoot, disassemble, and rebuild production equipment such as reciprocating compressors, steam turbines and centrifugal pumps (preferred)
- Knowledgeable in types and uses of valves
- Ability to work independently or in pairs to repair and/or replace equipment.
- Basic welding skills (preferred)
- Lubrication Experience and enough knowledge to provide feedback and improvements on the lubrication routes.
- Experience or knowledge in vibration, Infrared, stroboscope and stethoscope monitoring
- Experience in precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to repair equipment; and operating a drill press, hydraulic press, pedestal grinder, mill equipment and lathes.
- Familiar with reading and working from blueprints and/or single line drawings.
- This position will be required to enter both history found on equipment as well as time taken on the equipment. Therefore, this position will require computer Literacy and knowledgeable in the PM module within SAP or have used similar maintenance management systems before the tracking and execution of work orders.
- Will be required to stand approximately 5-6 hours per day
- You will walk/Stand upon a variety of surfaces to transport materials, equipment and tools between work areas.
- This role required you to work in varying environmental conditions and outdoors. Outside temperatures may range from -32oF to an excess of 100oF. Indoor temperatures can be 110oF or higher.
- Must have demonstrated the ability to learn to perform the duties of the position within 6 months of assignment.
