Position Summary

Provide accounting, costing, production, and financial reporting services to the Ground Calcium Carbonate strategic business unit of Huber Engineered Materials.  Responsibilities include financial close and reporting, analysis and explanation of manufacturing variances, management of the product costing process in a standard cost environment, and partnering with operations and plant management to help drive operating decisions.  In addition, this position supports the annual budget process, documentation & analysis for capital investments, and ad hoc special projects, as needed.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Responsible for cost accounting month-end close. Prepare month-end journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations. Provide plant related operating and accounting reports on a timely basis.  Initiate new and maintain existing reports, as necessary.  Prepare analysis and explanation of monthly manufacturing variances.

2.    Develop and maintain product specific standard costs.  This includes developing an understanding of the production processes and working with plant engineers and operations management to ensure that bills and routings are accurately established in the Oracle costing system (Oracle Process Manufacturing or OPM).

3.    Ensure adequate internal controls are in place surrounding operations processes, including inventory, production and purchasing transactions.  Maintain an understanding and working knowledge of inventory (raw materials, finished goods, spare parts, etc) to ensure inventory levels remain appropriate and that valuations are accurate, including analysis of reserves for obsolescence.  Supervise physical inventory counts and assign proper valuation to the inventory.

4.    Develop and review site accounting policies and procedures.  Ensure adherence and update as necessary.  Consult with GCC SBU Finance Controller and HEM Controller on policies and procedures and keep abreast of problems or changes that might necessitate their assistance.  Prepare schedules and analysis for internal auditors, external auditors, and corporate staff departments, as required.

5.    Assist with the development of the annual operating budget for the plants in collaboration with the Plant Managers and Director of Operations.

6.    Assist with the development/preparation of Capital Appropriation requests.  Maintain local capital budget tracking system and forecasting.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Individuals should be knowledgeable in the areas of: general accounting, capital budgeting and project accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, computer models and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Individual should have a minimum four-year degree in Accounting and/or Finance, and three to five years of relevant work experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.  Working knowledge of Oracle highly desired.
