Position Summary
Perform highly skilled maintenance duties required to construct, repair, and maintain plant equipment, utilities, buildings and related structures. Reports to the Maintenance Manager. This position is a rotating 12 hour shift working 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management Standard requirements, within their sphere of influence. This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements.
Potentially Significant EH&S Impact(s): Respond to breakdowns in environmental control equipment. Deal with spills and handle universal waste properly.
1. Performs highly skilled maintenance duties. This includes but is not limited to the following:
a. Repair and overhaul of gear boxes
b. Major fabrication
c. Highly skilled welding, cutting and brazing
d. Repair and diagnosis of packaging equipment problems
e. Variable speed drive and transmission repair
f. Crusher rebuilding g. Complete overhaul of Raymond mills and other plant equipment
2. Performs the duties associated with “B” and “C” Maintenance position.
3. Informs manager or problems encountered during repairs and suggests possible solutions for problems.
4. Provides leadership to other maintenance employees and promotes teamwork in order to provide maximum service to the internal customers.
5. Employees must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job.
6. Knowledgeable of the ISO quality system as required to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001 quality standard.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical school a plus.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience or technical school equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
- Willing and able to work and act safely (laboratory and plant practices).
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
- Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDS, and various production schedules/reports.
- Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs occasionally, must be able to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and crawl. Must be able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely hot to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.
Physical Requirements
Works inside (including underground mine) and outside in all areas of plant, and is often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, grease, oil. Crushed and ground limestone spillage and dirty working conditions. Has a thorough knowledge of each unique mill unit and its operation and has the ability to start up, run and explain material flow of product through the mill unit. Operates and maintains machine tools, portable power tools, electrode welder and oxygen and acetylene cutting and welding apparatus. Uses standard hand tools and measuring instruments such as scales and micrometers. Plant milling system equipment is located on multiple levels and requires climbing stairs or stationary ladders to monitor and/or adjust its operation.
