Position Summary

Performs highly skilled mechanical and electrical automotive maintenance duties to repair and maintain vehicles, compressors, generators, and other mobile equipment necessary to the mining, crushing, and grinding of limestone. Reports to the Maintenance Manager.  This position is on night shift. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management Standard requirements, within their sphere of influence.  This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements.
  2. Potentially Significant EH&S Impact(s): Respond to breakdowns in environmental control equipment. Deal with spills and handle universal waste properly.
  3. Performs highly skilled mechanical and electrical automotive maintenance duties. This includes but is not limited to the following:
    1. Major engine overhauls
    2. Transmission and drive train repair
    3. Ignition repair and diagnosis
    4. Carburetion
    5. Welding, brazing and acetylene cutting
    6. Major mechanical troubleshooting
    7. Complete hydraulic and pneumatic system repair
    8. Electrical system troubleshooting and repair
    9. Fuel injection
    10. Complete equipment servicing
  4. As duties permit, and as assigned, performs other less skilled maintenance duties:
    1. Brake overhauls
    2. Engine tune-ups
    3. Exhaust system repair
    4. Replacing belts, hoses, etc.
  5. Informs Maintenance Supervisor of major problems encountered during repairs and suggests possible solutions for problems.
  6. Employee must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job.
  7. Knowledgeable of the ISO quality system as required to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001 quality standard.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical school a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience or technical school equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a class A CDL.
  • Willing and able to work and act safely (laboratory and plant practices).
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
  • Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDS, and various production schedules/reports.
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs occasionally, must be able to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely hot to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.

Physical Requirements

Works in quarry maintenance shop located in underground mine exposed to cold temperatures, noise, grease, oil, and dirty working conditions. Operates and maintains portable power tools, hand tools, forklifts, cranes, hoists, jacks, and electronic test equipment. Occasionally operates electrode and oxygen acetylene cutting and welding apparatus.
