Mill Operator

This position keeps process equipment running and producing efficiently while at the same time creating a product to meet product specifications.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate all mill systems to include all associated equipment and controls.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and correct problems with the mill systems.
  • Collect and prepare samples for the QC lab, if needed.
  • Perform QC duties and basic tests.
  • Blow out equipment filters and lubricate, as needed.
  • Operate conveying systems and dust collectors.
  • Maintain silo levels to allow for continuous operations of all loading areas.
  • Know and maintain product specifications.
  • Operate forklift, as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping around work area.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment at the beginning of each shift.
  • Adhere to all QMS procedures and documentation as applicable to position and department, and as required by ISO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  1. High School graduate or GED.
  2. Effective communication, both written and verbal.
  3. Strong moral and ethical standards.
  4. Must be able to work individually and in a team atmosphere.
  5. Must be able to operate forklift, requires good eye hand coordination and smooth, simultaneous hand and foot control.
  6. General working knowledge of MSHA Safety requirements. 

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a production environment.  Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying up to 55 lbs. on a regular basis.   Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop and climb up to 70 feet.  Able to operate hand and foot controls simultaneously.  Manual dexterity required for operation of hand controls and/or computer keyboard.
