Position Summary
To oversee and coordinate the operations of the MSHA enforced Quincy underground mine, Limestone production and Maintenance department.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Mandatory Minimum Standards Required, within sphere of influence. This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, wastewater permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements.
Potentially Significant EH&S Impact(s): Ensures compliance with all Huber environmental, health and safety policies and governmental regulations through Human Resources and the EHS Manager as well as ensures compliance activities are conducted (all inspection, measurements, monitoring, recording, recordkeeping, reporting and training. Oversees Site Change Management for the Quincy Plant.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Organizes the Quincy Limestone and Quincy Mine operations into efficient and flexible production units to meet current and future business demands with quality products at minimum production costs.
- Organizes the Quincy Maintenance Department staff and work crews into flexible units to provide timely, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance to all production facilities.
- Coordinates and approves general production schedules of each plant to ensure adequate raw materials for production and on-time shipments of customers.
- Monitors production cost data, tonnage produced, and shipments completed daily and guides Director of Operations in correcting unacceptable variances to control efficiently of production.
- Develops and implements plans to improve processing, production and scheduling based on information gathered from Marketing, Sales, Technical and Engineering departments to contribute to business efficiencies.
- Informs the Director of Operations in a timely manner of all significant developments in the Quincy plant.
- Maximizing the utilization of people, equipment, and reserve resources across plant lines from EVA improvement considering large, fixed asset base.
- Equipping plants to meet a wide variety of product performance specifications needed by customers.
- Assuring that operations comply with applicable government environmental regulations.
- Optimizing financial performance of operations considering changing markets.
- Shifting to a performance culture driven by analytics, targets and metrics and accountabilities while preserving the Huber principles.
- Building confidence across plant operations by clearly and constantly communicating our needs, our plans, and our successes.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive responsibility, to include a high-level operations role in a related industry.
- Minimum MBA or equivalent experience in marketing or business, with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering or technology.
- Demonstrated ability to energize organizations into effectively implementing fact-based strategies and delivering world class performance in all aspects of plant operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and improve safety performance in an industrial environment.
- Verbally transmits ideas, instructions, and information so they are clearly understood by others. Writes clear, concise, and grammatically correct documents that others can easily understand. Creates communications to match the need of a particular audience. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate on complex operating and technical issues across department lines.
