Position Summary

Assist Engineering group with project management and process improvement.

This position will work to improve the sites drawing filing system and update process flow diagrams for the milling areas.

The intern will work closely with engineering group. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

•    Responsibilities include document production processes in AutoCAD and Visio.
•    Engineering responsibilities can include process observation, tracking, analysis, and reporting
•    Ability to follow supervisor’s written and oral work instructions.
•    Works safely and maintains high housekeeping standards, follows all safety procedures.
•    Writes clear, concise and grammatically correct memos reports instructions which clearly state the intended message in a manner that is professional, yet easy for others to understand.  Efficiently prepares various statistical and/or other reports.
•    Assures high quality through good engineering techniques and elementary statistical analysis.
•    Prepares and carefully reviews figures, computations, tests, reports, etc., and ensures they have internal consistency; ensures that information can be understood by all who need to read it.
•    Uses Six Sigma and 5s tools where appropriate.
•    Present a project report summarizing completed work with recommendations.
•    May perform other duties as directed.
 

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

•    Junior or senior college student with a major in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Engineering or other related science or engineering fields.
•    Must read, write, speak and understand the English language.
•    Must be proficient in MS Office software applications.
•    Respects deadlines and works to closure.
•    Writes clear, concise and grammatically correct memos, letters, reports and instructions which clearly state the intended message in a manner that is professional, yet easy for others to understand. 
•    Quickly & effectively adjusts behavior to meet a goal and/or changing circumstances, e.g., changed work schedules, customer needs, strategic directions of the company.
•    Demonstrates a level of listening skill such that departmental needs, issues, problems, etc. are heard and possibly resolved.
•    Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of others, includes tactfulness and a helping orientation; must be a team player.
•    Ability to learn and apply Six Sigma Concepts and Techniques in everyday activities 
•    Ability to work with minimal supervision to achieve team goals and manage multiple priorities at one time in a safe and efficient manner.
 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to don required PPE – hardhat, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, hearing protection, high visibility clothing (or vest), gloves or other specialized PPE depending on the job or circumstances.
  • Work environment is inside.  Works in a plant and office environment.  Many vibrations, chemicals, noise, dust particles.
  • This position requires standing for sometimes long period of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
