Position Summary

Supervise night shift operations across performance minerals manufacturing areas and associated functions (including quality, shipping, and maintenance) to ensure customer requirements are met. Drive alignment with plant strategies, inventory management, operational initiatives, and financial objectives while maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment

 

Dimensions of Job: 

  • Manufacturing plant location and mine operate year-round, 24 hours per day.
  • Oversee non-exempt and/or contract employees performing milling, packaging, shipping, and quality functions. Coordinates mechanical and electrical needs with the maintenance department as needed.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates shift schedules, adjusts staffing as needed, and monitors employee performance to meet production demands.
  • Maintains efficient night shift operations by ensuring work instructions are followed and making adjustments to meet production and staffing needs.
  • Communicates key operational updates, including equipment issues, staffing changes, and production concerns, to leadership and relevant teams.
  • Supports production scheduling and addresses deviations from plan as needed.
  • Enters and tracks maintenance work orders to address equipment or facility issues.
  • Conducts routine plant inspections for safety hazards, housekeeping, and maintenance needs; ensures dust control and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Develops and reviews Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and leads safety meetings; ensures adherence to all safety and environmental policies.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates employees; provides feedback, completes performance evaluations, and administers discipline as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve production efficiency; supports lean manufacturing practices and cross-training initiatives.
  • Reviews processes and recommends improvements, including equipment or workflow changes; may assist in machinery or process design.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and completes required reports; provides updates to Production and Plant Managers as needed.
  • Coordinates with leadership regarding staffing needs, training, workflow improvements, and operational or disciplinary matters.
  • Communicates needs for materials, supplies, and equipment to support daily operations.
  • Promotes a positive work environment aligned with company values and culture.
  • Maintains flexibility to support operations across shifts as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  1. High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  1. Proven experience in a production management or supervisory role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
  1. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams, including influencing cross-functional groups to meet company policies and business objectives.

 

Working Conditions

  • Works inside and outside exposed to several elements on evening/night shift.  Will require some weekends on a rotating basis.
  • May require standing for 75% of the time.  Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds at a time.  Must lift, move, kneel, stoop, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be alert and be able to react quickly to safety related situations to assist self and others in emergency situations.  Must notify appropriate personnel (Packaging/Shipping/Quality Manager, Plant Manager, EHS Manager) in the event of an emergency or should an out of the ordinary situation arise that may require immediate attention.

NOTE: MSHA required training will follow Quincy’s Part 48 Training Plan including New Miner training and annual refresher. Prior MSHA training will be acceptable if proper documentation can be produced.

Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as an applicant's skills, performance, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.

 

U.S. Market-Based Salary Range

Production Supervisor

[$72,800.00 - $94,300.00]

 

In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
