Position Summary
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing a variety of electrical engineering work related to detailed electrical designs, supporting calculations, P&IDs, and one lines. The person selected will also be responsible for maintaining electrical drawings and document control; helping to develop Electrical and Distributed Control System standards; and project management of electrical and controls related projects.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design, installation, and support of plant electrical power distribution from 24V up to 15KV.
- Low and medium voltage preventative maintenance planning and oversight.
- Prepare AutoCad drawings such as MCC elevation, single line diagram, Switchgear single line, 3-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, power distribution diagram (120 VAC – 24 VDC), lighting panel schedule, discrete control schematics, analog loop diagram, equipment electrical plan, conduit layout, etc.).
- Manage a variety of engineering projects with focus on power distribution and process automation from idea creation to completion.
- Assist Project Management Team with projects to include electrical design support to develop project budgets, developing timelines, insuring timely delivery of designs, etc.
- Lead electrical job walks and prepare electrical bid packages and scopes of work.
- Select and procure control devices (i.e., switches, control panels, timers, etc.).
- Work with process control group to develop I/O checklists for commissioning.
- Help to maintain electrical drawing library and keep drawings, equipment lists, and parts information up to date.
- Maintain the Electrical Wire Number spreadsheet; manage the electrical drawing database (12KV down); and check-out/check-in of drawings.
- Insure outside engineering and design firms comply with Tate & Lyle’s drawing layouts and detail design standards to ensure consistency of drawings used at the facility.
- Perform or direct preparation of electrical and controls design calculations and review calculations submitted by firms on a job-by-job basis.
- Manage electrical technical specifications, standards, and guidelines.
- Serve as plant electrical safety and subject matter expert
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
- Power Distribution experience 120V up to 15kV.
- Strong knowledge in AutoCad, drafting, and P&ID reading.
- Field wiring and IO cabinet design and building a plus.
- Ability to read one lines, three lines, electrical schematics, and I/O drawings.
- Ability to perform electrical calculations as part of design.
- Basic understanding of IO, control circuits, and motor control circuits.
- Knowledge in MS Office, Microsoft Projects, and SAP a plus.
- Experienced in applicable codes and standards relating to industrial electrical control hardware and software (NFPA 70E, NEC 70, IEC, UL Listing etc.)
Knowledge of PSM systems and classified area electrical codes preferred. - Knowledge on APACS, Control Logix, and Delta V DCS architecture and peripherals a plus.
- Experience with supporting and or managing large capital projects that require installation/integration of electrical systems construction
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, for the purpose of providing information to appropriate parties (i.e., staff, clients, vendors, etc.).
- Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks accurately.

Total Rewards
Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as an applicant's skills, performance, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.

In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
