Position Summary

You will be part of Process Innovation group and work on fermentation, down-stream/recovery operations. The successful candidate will be involved with the development of innovative technologies from laboratory scale, through pilot testing and scale-up, to full scale industrial implementation across different manufacturing facilities. You will also provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting and optimization of current manufacturing processes, quality improvement projects and technical transfer of projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Individual contributor with very high level of skills/knowledge in area of fermentation and downstream processing/recovery
  • Develops and applies knowledge to implement and/or improve tools, techniques, and work processes.
  • Proactively solves problems and issues requiring advanced level of technical knowledge and consideration of other disciplines
  • Works under limited supervision and can take over the departmental coordination for shorter or longer periods
  • Serves on teams or supports specialized projects with high complexity
  • Influences others within the organization to reach agreement and accept new practices and approaches
  • May lead or supervise a small team or technical project and interact with various cross functional teams
  • Ability to write technical reports and scientific papers
  • Effectively communicate ideas and results to operators, engineers, and managers
  • Travel to other CP Kelco sites or third-party sites to conduct trials
  • You may coach junior members of the staff
  • Works in safe manner in accordance with Huber principles

Requirements

  • PhD/Master’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience or bachelor’s with over 5 years’ experience within the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related industry in a related technical role.
  • Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: fermentation, solid-liquid separation, drying, milling, pneumatic conveying
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of fermentation, fluid mechanics, chemical reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer and basic unit operations of chemical engineering is required
  • Project management knowledge is required
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental Chemical Engineering and Chemistry principles to carry out research projects in related areas
  • Preference will be given to candidates who enjoy an applied research environment that combines basic research with validation and implementation of new ideas and technologies
  • Ability to solve a variety of issues by applying established procedures
  • Ability to work on problems of diverse scope but moderately complex in a specialty area
  • Able to apply broad and/or deep, relevant technical knowledge while developing new & complex technical hypotheses
  • Recognized within Innovation as a technical expert in a specialized field
  • Recognized by department as an expert in downstream processing across R&D and operations
