Purpose of Job:

 

This critical leadership role is responsible for providing technical environmental, health, safety & sustainability support to all facilities within Biolchim, Cifo & Ilsa Italy & in Hungary locations. This position involves leading the Huber integration and developing and coordinating site EHS&S programs and objectives.  

 

Further purpose is to coordinate EHS&S training programs at the assigned sites, monitor applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and provide technical support to personnel to ensure compliance. Also, to provide leadership, drive, and maintain the EHS&S management system according to ISO and Huber Sustainability Management System. 

 
 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads the integration of HEM (Huber Engineered Materials) EHS&S programs, strategy and culture into Italy and Hungary locations.  
  • Ensures sites comply with applicable regulations and internal EHS&S requirements, programs, and guidelines by maintaining and monitoring the compliance assurance system including permit status and requirements, reporting, compliance plans, and audits. 
  • Prepares and implements written EHS&S programs and policies. 
  • Identifies EHS&S training needs and develops and delivers relevant training programs.
  • Takes proactive measures to safeguard personnel and assets, by advising plant operations of regulatory and company requirements. 
  • Identifies trends and opportunities to continuously reduce risks and improve EHS&S management system. 
  • Participates in product/process reviews including process hazard analysis and risk assessments.
  • Implements Corporate EHS&S policies, procedures, and programs based on Huber Sustainability Management System, including databases for data gathering and reporting. Maintains Management System certification according to ISO standards. 
  • Performs and/or coordinates industrial hygiene and environmental sampling and monitoring to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and best practices for both safety and environmental regulations.
  • Acting as the owner/sponsor as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Huber Sustainability Management System.

 

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a safety science/engineering/industrial hygiene discipline, environmental science/engineering, or chemical engineering, and knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Good comprehension of management systems (ex: ISO) and risk-based prioritization.
  • Working knowledge of occupational safety, health and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Effective facilitator and communicator, proficiency in English and Italian.
  • Recognizable leadership skills, ability to effectively lead teams, productively deal with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other contractor personnel.
  • Project management skills in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments independently.
  • Ability to make explicit engineering recommendations for equipment layout/design changes to effect safety improvements.
  • Ability to travel 20% to various plants/facilities.
