Position Summary
Operates blenders, formers, and press to produce oriented strand board material according to established quality standards.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the total blending/forming and pressing operation from dry flake storage bins through the
- press unloader and screen separator.
- Operates, cleans and inspects for proper operation all formers and press line
- equipment from formers to accumulator
- Reports any deficiencies to the Maintenance Department and/or Shift Supervisor to get problems
- corrected.
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work areas with assistance from Press Assistants.
- Monitors equipment continually to ensure proper operation, quality, and to prevent damage.
- Change product parameters as needed to maintain quality and performance.
- Ensure all properties of the product being produced meet product specifications by analyzing physical data reports and maintaining constant communication with other operational personnel. Use operator feedback and recorded data to make operational adjustments and/or direct other personnel regarding appropriate corrective actions necessary.
- Assists the Dryer operator in monitoring the FlamEx systems.
- Assists Huber personnel in cleaning plugged conveyors and screws.
- Monitor blending operations.
- Completes production data reports on a daily basis.
- Monitor environmental pollution control equipment, such as RTO and baghouses.
- Relieves Dryer Operator as needed.
- Categorizes and enters downtime reasons, verifying time and all other data in the downtime reports.
- Directs maintenance and production personnel to equipment location for troubleshooting, during upset conditions, etc.
- Responsible for proper test-start verification, when LOTO is being performed on equipment.
- Maintains operations by reading, interpreting, and applying complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating Procedures and other written instructions.
- Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

High school diploma or GED

5+ years manufacturing experience preferred

Experience with HMI’s, data entering, and troubleshooting by use of charts and trends preferred

Experience monitoring data trends and charts to make informed decisions about quality and production rates preferred

Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays per shift schedule
