Function and Department Responsibility

•    Implement the company policy (plant level) in the area of responsibility including timely achievement of the assigned main tasks (see below) and the agreed individual objectives (see objectives form) as well as the plant objectives (see PPP template)
•    Implement the policy in respect of energy, environment, safety, health, food safety and quality (including GMP & HACCP) in the area of responsibility through application of the relevant legal and internal regulations (see also HSMS and current management manual)
•    Continuous improvement of Safety and Safety Management System
•    Member of the local Health and Safety Committee and PHA / HAZOP Team
•    Member of the platform and global EHS&S Team
•    Communication of all Safety relevant results, changes, legislations and guidelines through the plant organization, plant manager and EHS&S corp. organization (EHS&S-Metrics, ENABLON, HESS, monthly report, …) as substitute for the EHS&S Manager

Principal Missions and Responsibilities

•    Helping the EHS&S Manager to support internal communication with publishing frequent EHS&S results, accidents, near misses etc.
•    Support the EHS&S Manager in the development of sustainable and innovative strategies that drive short- and long-term performance in the overall Safety performance.
•    Building and maintaining trustful relationship to safety authorities, insurance, municipal fire department etc. through frequent contacts, early involvement and open communication as substitute for the EHS&S Manager
•    Keeping the certificates of “Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (Sifa)” up to date
•    Maintain the management systems DIN EN ISO 45001 as part of the Integrated Management System (IMS)
•    Maintaining and developing procedures related to safety, health and ergonomics regarding the selection and operation of machinery and equipment, the selection and use of personal protective equipment
•    Advising and supervision of handling of hazardous materials. Clarifying questions about the application of laws, regulations and standards and innovations. Contact for monitoring and occupational safety devices
•    Conduct safety audits, inspections and attend Pre-Startup-Safety-Review (PSSR)
•    Maintain and develop further the Behavior Based Safety (BBS) program
•    Supporting the workplace risk assessments (Gefährdungsbeurteilungen) including Industrial Hygiene (IH) assessments
•    Responsibility for conducting incident investigations, including 'near misses', creating monthly statistics (e.g. Enablon)
•    Maintaining the Enablon system as a validator and the Softwaretool IntegrAS as local Administrator. 
•    Compliance Management “Rechtskataster”
•    Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various HSMS Elements: Develop and maintain training materials and conduct training classes.
•    Internal Auditor for integrated management system
•    Identification of training needs of employees
•    Leader of the plant Emergency Response Team 
•    Inspiring and supporting all departments in reaching remarkable safety targets and be in line with regulations and plant related rules (e.g. HSMS)

Job Requirements

•    Degree of university or similar (Eng. Degree)
•    Certified specialist as “Sicherheitsfachkraft”
•    “Brandschutzbeauftragter” is desirable
•    Internal Auditor Qualification is desirable
•    Previous work experience in the EHS&S field of at least five years
•    Excellent leadership and communication skills; negotiation skills on a high level
•    Technical skills (chemical processes, explosion risks, machinery, motivation, innovation, control technologies, HAZOP, FMEA, FTA, training, presentation, project management and moderation)
•    Fluent German and English (speaking and writing)
•    Trustworthy personality, people influencing skills and good facilitator
•    Relevant experience of Safety in the industry, familiar with Safety rules and regulations
•    First Aid and knowledge of AED application
